Classic contrasting styles on stage this PM with Ariana Huffington, aka The Huff, bringing much needed warmth and humanity to the tired AOL brand. Not fair on AOL’s CEO Tim Armstrong to have to share a preso with her as she engages with the audience (jokes about sounding like Kissinger: ” Being totally incomprehensible has never been a problem in American public life …”) and shows why she is now even richer after the sale of the Huffington Post to AOL.
Nothing new in terms of content – trust, authenticity, engagement etc. – but nicely and likeably done. Tim, by contrast, kept talking about the ‘failing AOL brand’ and the comeback they are working on. It involves a newly discovered group called ‘humans’ who will now be the focus for AOL… hurrah!
New AOL survey to be launched tomorrow will show they are right, I bet.
